ryan 喜歡 cambridge 的古典風味及書香氣息。於是下了訂金買下了個陽光佈滿庭院，溫暖卻不失情調的雙層住屋。
ryan 喜歡 venice 的寧靜浪漫，每個周末踏上早機飛往威尼斯 Canale Grande 河邊，最喜愛的咖啡庭屋檐下享受杯熱 mocha 及新鮮出爐的蘋果派，聼著白髮老翁慢條斯理的鋼琴彈奏，金髮女孩完美的 jazz 唱腔。
ryan 喜歡做夢。結果寫了以上一大堆。。。

Trafford center 走了老半天設麽也沒看中。
只知道“綠色”。。。Isle of Wight 草原般的翠綠色。。。

cow. someone cut the external connection and the whole SSL IT department just moved to the board room for the england match! (i hope we get free beer if england wins). the end users, consultants, project manager, leads, MD all there sitting together cheering for england.

今天 ryan 駕車到 sheffield 探望小弟。英國人有個風俗，名稱 poets ，既是 piss off early, tomorrow's saturday! 的意識。 ryan 同士們三點下午吃過中餐后拍拍屁股就走人了， ryan 也趁大家對世界盃 kick off 過 high 時趁機溜走上路。
M60 到 M67 只屬一般高速公路，自 A628 后既是羊腸小巷，彎曲的，懶散的跨越陽擴的 Peak District。 Ryan 前年冬天曾來過-- ryan 喜歡英國的冬天，雖然天氣冷了些，陽光的存在短了些，不過 ryan 卻在 2004 冬天與很要好的朋友一起度過了難忘的時段。
其餘冬天的冷漠與黑暗，今回的大草原鋪滿了溫暖的陽光，寧靜的湖泊反映著碧藍的天空以及充滿思搆的白雲，既似一望無際的景色，天空與翠綠的草原終然在天邊碰面。
2006 的夏天，這裡有鋪滿小黃花的草原，也有散潑了白花的山丘，叢裏的野草也顯得特別可愛。。。
不過 ryan 還是喜歡 2004 的冬天。。。

my mentor, Pete, is a Chris-martin look-alike german british who has an accent of a northern brit + russian. so it's sometimes kinda hard to catch up with what he's saying, which makes me feel kinda bad not being able to catch up in speed to help him on most of the urgent things he need attending to.
anyway, tomorrow happens to be Phin's birthday. so, third year not being around, i've decided to send her some flowers. instead of the usual blooming.com, there have been a couple of parties springing up in recent years playing messenger for many lovers around. but amongst all, the ones in love.com.my seems like giving the best deal above all. but just when i finished the online transaction and open my mailbox reading the confirmation letter, Pete stop by to discuss bout part of the work needs doing. some how his eyes was wide fixed on the mail and after a good few seconds he said, with only the brief transaction details (not a single word "flowers") and the corny url, he drew his conclusion- "man, you buying love online??" then he added, "hey u know our client produce those stuffs (points display shelves), over there, right?".
man. i'm so mis-understood.

i'll be driving up north to Manchester tomorrow morning (hopefully to start at 5 for roughly 4 hours drive). will be shadowing over sensei Peter White, so il be on non-chargeable basis during this assignment (which is kinda uncommon for diagonal to put up with... really grateful for the key people who pushed this through). basically bossman told me i'll be shadowing the guru and pretend that i doesnt exist, so if the client caught me they'll deny all my existance.
the client? SSL (who happens to own durex). another consultant who's already there reported bout lotsa strange toys lying around the office. was talking to Pete bout the directions there on the phone, who happened to have the northern brit accent.
pete "... well SSL is in the building Venus.."
shin "excuse me?"
pete "Vee-nus. not Penis"
shin "hahahahah, i really thought you said penis, which does makes sense considering their line of business"
pete "but they do have 3 nude women statue on the front entrance, so you wont miss it"
shin "sounds inviting..."
he's kinda cool bloke, so am looking forward to pick up hardcore XI stuffs from him there.
hence, il be in Manchester, staying in Tulip hotel, and shadowing on an XI project, and working in a condom company inside building Vee-nus.

some ideas of where i am right now...
1. it should already be summer, but you still wake up to a 9celcius morning.
2. i'm staying in Farnham, Surrey. but i work in Fleet, Hamsphire (which is just a short drive across the border anyway).
3. The office is close to a military base in Aldershot, to which you'll hear artillery fire everytime and wonder is ze germans are attacking.
4. half of my colleagues are not english, so openly supporting the england team in world cup wont exactly gain you much favour.
5. two third of my colleagues are above 40. the rest are above 30s.
6. office asked me if a proton would make me feel at home, i said a lotus would do, but they ended up giving me a kia picanto (i'm not a kore-an! do i look like a korean to u??).
7. will be moving up to manchester next week. i've mistaken my client to be SCL (who brewed alcohol in scotland), but it's actually SSL (who makes durex in manchester).
8. you use "quid" and "pint"... not "pound" and "liter".
9. you can still spot a proton or perodua on the road (but you'll have much better chance in seeing a ferrari or aston or even bentley).
10. the foxes in the forest will raid you trash at night, so you'll need to weight down your trash lid with a chair.
11. uk looks much healthier/cheerful in summer than my last visit in winter.
12. topgear's studio and racetrack is just 15min away.
13. the cheapest thing worth buying here is beer.
14. you can never out-drink a brit, even the ones you said they dun drink.
15. world cup is next week, but i just might end up watching it from the hotel/pub. *bummer*
16. most of my friends still didn't know i left malaysia.
